H.D.Kumara Swamy's birthday celebrated in his absence


Date: December 16,2008. Place: Old Bus stand premises at Ramanagaram. Time: 2 p.m. Sitting M.L.A of the constituency and former chief minister H.D.Kumara Swamy's 49th birthday was celebrated by his fans and J.D.S party workers, in his absence.
As the former chief minister was busy campaigning for his wife Anitha Kumaraswamy in Madhugiri Constituency on December 16th he was unable to participate in the celebration.
However, the J.D.S. party district chief Mr.K.Raju cut the cake, while the taluk J.D.S. working president Mr.Rajashekar sang the birthday song. Many leaders and party workers present on the occassion lend their voice and sang 'happy birthday Kumaranna'!
As usual the cake was distributed err.... snatched away by the ........?

State level senior citizens sports meet at Ramanagara



For the first time in the history of Ramanagara, the citizens had a chance to witness the spirit of sports in senior citizens on 13th and 14th of December 2008.

The local branch of Canara Bank had sponsored the State Level Senior Citizens Sports Meet arranged by The District Senior Citizens Sports Club . Senior citizens aged above 35 exhibited their passion for sports. 85 year old Mr. Deshpande from Belagaum participated and stood first in 800 mtr running. Many aged male and female citizens from across the state participated in Javelin Throw, Long Jump, High Jump, 5 km walk, Tripple Jump, Running Race.

Festival at Ramagiri Hills



Ramagiri Hills where the most of the mega block buster hindi movie "SHOLAY" was shot will wear a festive look on Saturday the 31st August 2008 on occasion of last auspicious Saturday in the month of shravana according to Hindu calender.

Thousands of devotees across the state visit and offer their prayers to the presiding diety Lord Rama. The Ramagiri hills is known as Mecca for mountain climbers for their preliminary mountain climbing lessons. Passage to India, Gandhi & more than hundred filims are shot in this picturesque mountains.
The rocks of Ramanagaram are also know world wide as "Closepete Rocks" (Closepete being the previous name of Ramanagaram). According to the local purana, Lord Rama along with his wife Sita Devi had a stay in this hills while they were in exile. During their stay an ausura named Kakasura in disguise as a crow tried to molest Sita Devi while Lord Rama was taking rest. Lord Rama woke up and killed Kakasura . Strange enough, no crows can be seen in this hills even today!.

City Municipal Council clears footpaths


The Ramanagaram C.M.C. is now concentrating on clearing the encroached footpaths in the town. C.M.C president K.Seshadri (shashi) has taken serious note of footpath encroachments. Ramanagaram being a distric headquarters now, he wants the dignity of the district headquarters to prevail.

To begin with the C.M.C. president himself lead a team of officers and workmen to clear the encroachments on the ever busy Magadi Road. People from all quarters of the society have lauded the efforts of the C.M.C.

Election: It will be tough for mischief mongers


Ramanagara District Deputy Commissioner Mr.V.Ponnuraj has said the election commission has issued strict guidelines to curb any mischief during elections on May 10. 16 companies of Central Forces will be deployed in the district he said.


No person with out his election identity card can cast his vote, the deputy commissioner has repeated. How ever if a voter doesnot have his election identity card he can produce any valid document with his photo as proof and cast his vote. The alternative proof includes, pan card, driving licence, bank pass book with photo etc.

B.J.P., Congress, J.D.S gears up their election campaign






Ramanagaram is now in poll fever as the contestants of the three major political parties geared up their election campaign today. Ex Chief Minister H.D.Kumara Swamy did a whirlwind tour for the second day. More than he asked for votes, he promised the voters to solve their personal problems in two months.


Congress candidate Mamatha Nicchani to campaigned in Ramanagaram town. She was hopeful of her win. She opined that voters greeted her warmly when she visited them seeking votes.


B.J.P. candidate M.Rudresh toured the rural areas, while her wife S.Manjula walked around few extensions inside the town and seeked votes for her husband.

H.D.Kumara Swamy begins his canvass in Ramanagara


Ex Chief Minister H.D.Kumara Swamy began his election canvass in his home constituency Ramanagara after offering his prayers to the village diety in Kempanahalli in Kasaba Hobli. Because of the strict election code of conduct he was accompanied with very few members from his party.

Later in the day he addressed voters at Madapura, Sugganahalli.
