Successful Sri Vasavi Ratha Yatra in Ramanagara District




Prior to the scheduled Karnataka Arya Vysya's Conference in Bangalore on December 24,25 & 26th the Sri Vasavi Sankalpa Ratha Yatre is being carried thru out the state Karnataka. The ratha (chariot) yatre passed thru Ramanagaram District on September 7th and 8th. The Vasavi Ratha arrived from Bangalore Rural District. The Ratha was carried out in the procession in all the taluks of Ramanagaram District ( Magadi, Ramanagaram, Channapatna and Kanakapura). Karnataka Arya Vysya Mahasabha District Directors B.V.Surya Prakash, S.G.Ramesh Guptha and Ramanath lead the procession thru out the district.

Queens Baton passes thru Ramanagaram District


When Common Wealth Games Queens Baton arrived today (2nd September 2010) at 12.55 noon from Mysore at Ramanagaram District Office, Ramanagaram, the elected representatives, govt. officials, press persons, student community and general public were elated. They heartily welcomed the baton, wished the common wealth games all success and let the baton to continue its journey to Bangalore the capitol city of Karnataka.

MLA K.Raju, Z.P.President Nagaraj, CMC president Saban Saab, Deputy Commissioner G.L.Chandra Shekaraiah, Asst.Commissioner Vijay Kumar, Tahsildhar D.B.Natesh, Circle Inspector Krishna Murthy on behalf of the district citizens wished all success for the games. Before the baton was sent off the accompanying officials were served with tender coconuts.

Ramanagara Bundh success


To oppose the recent price rise in diesel, petrol and LPG, the Bharath Bundh call given by BJP, JDS and many other organizations was a grand success in Ramanagaram. All merchant establishments were closed. KSRTC and private buses did not ply. The Bangalore Mysore highway traffic was not as usual. The main streets in the town wore a desert look as people too decided to stay in their homes. Petrol bunks, cinema theaters were also closed. How ever Government offices functioned but without the general public.

Nityananda Swami in Ramanagaram District Prison




The self proclaimed godman Nityananda will continue to be the inmate of the prison as his bail application is rejected by the Ramanagaram District Court.

Swami Paramahamsa Nityananda is facing charges of criminal acts like unnatural sex, cheating etc. The state CID police had arrested him last month and the Ramanagaram Civil Court has remanded him to judicial custody. Nityananda who once had thousands of followers throughout the world is now behind the bars at Ramanagaram District Prison. He had moved the Ramanagaram District Court for bail. But the district and sessions judge rejected his bail application on May 6,2010. Nityananda may now move Karnataka High Court for bail. Till then he will have to spend days meditating, reading books and eating food from his ashram.

Sri Arkeshwara Swamy Chariot Festival


Ramanagaram on 30th January 2010 witnessed the spectacular chariot festival. The diety Sri Arkeshwara Swamy temple on the banks of river Arkavathy has its place in the history of Ramanagaram. Every year the chariot festival is conducted with much devotion and fervour. This year too the chariot festival was more successful than yesteryears. People from all walks of life and from surrounding taluks participated in the festival and offered their prayers to Lord Arkeshwara.
Many organisations had putup make shift stalls and offered neerumajjige (buttermilk), panaka(musk melon/lemon juice sweetned with jaggery) that quenched the thirst of hundreds of devotees. Lord Arkeshwara Swamy idol mounted on 30 feet tall (approx) chariot pulled by the devotees from the temple premises on Choultry Street made its journey thru Agrahara, M.G.Road, Main Road and again thru Choultry Street to reach the temple finally.

Arya Vysya Mahasaba Election: Elected unanimously


Election for the new office bearers of the Karnataka Arya Vysya Mahasabha was held very recently. B.V.Surya Prakash from Ramanagara and S.G.Ramesh Guptha from Magadi were elected unanimously from Ramanagara District. The newly elected are the first to represent Ramanagara District in Karnataka Arya Vysya Mahasabha as Ramanagara District came into existance just two years ago.
